Sheriff Limits VIN Inspections to Concho Valley Residents Amid Overload

The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office says that beginning May 15, 68‑A VIN inspections will be limited to residents and businesses within the Concho Valley Council of Governments region, along with active‑duty military. Officials say requests from outside the region — especially from oilfield areas — have overwhelmed deputies and stretched resources. The sheriff’s office will continue inspections on the second and fourth Thursdays each month for eligible residents, and those outside the region are encouraged to seek help from their local law enforcement or the state DMV. Sheriff Nick Hanna says the change ensures local residents still have access to the service, noting that complicated inspections often require hours of follow‑up work.
