The City of San Angelo released its annual summary of the quality of the water in our system in compliance and coordination with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and in doing so revealed the city to be in three different violations. The City of San Angelo was found to be in violation in three different categories.
The first violation noted on the post was the trihalomethanes levels exceeding the EPA limit during two periods which were July 1, 2024, through Sept. 30, 2024, and Oct. 1, 2024, through Dec. 31, 2024,. The social media post noted that long-term exposure at high levels may increase health risks.
The second violation was a lead notice delay violation. The lead test results were not provided to some customers within 30 days which is required and happened between Dec. 30, 2024, and Feb. 4, 2025,.
The last violation was a public notification violation. The City failed to properly notify the public about a regulation violation between Sept. 22, 2024, and Nov. 21, 2024.
