A 13-year-old student from North Texas is the winner of the 100th Scripps National Spelling Bee. Faizan Zaki of Allen won the contest on Thursday night, defeating eight other finalists and winning more than 50 thousand dollars in cash and prizes. Zaki came in second last year and was a favorite to win the top honor this time around. His winning move was the correct spelling of éclaircissement, which means clearing up something obscure.
