Buying a beer at a corner store may soon become a little more time-consuming thanks a bill in the Texas legislature, which would require clerks to swipe your I-D. It’s backed by the mother of a Dallas-area teen, who died after a night of under-age drinking. Charlotte Stevens pleaded with state lawmakers to pass the bill, which is meant to crack down on fake I-Ds. There are carve-outs for liquor stores, due to a state law that bans teens from entering without a parent.
