Voter Turnout Lower Than 2020

State officials say voter turnout in Texas for this week’s presidential election fell short of the numbers for 2020.  There are nearly 19 million registered voters in Texas, more than ever before.  Just over 11 million voted this time around, for a turnout of 61 percent.  That’s about six percent below the turnout four-years-ago.  Democrats were particularly disappointed by the turnout in the state’s populous blue counties, such as Harris, Bexar and Dallas.  The margins of victory in those areas for Vice President Kamala Harris and Senate candidate Colin Allred weren’t as robust as the party had hoped.
