Two longtime San Angelo Police officers are announcing this week
that they are candidates for the Position of Police Chief in the May
City election. Sargeant Travis Griffith officially announced
yesterday outside the Tom Green County Courthouse. About a hundred
friends and supporters attended. Tomorrow morning, Luitenent Mike
Hernandez will announce his intent to run for Chief. He will make his
announcement at 10 am on the steps of City Hall. Current city Police
Chief Frank Carter plans to retire next year and not seek re-election.
