The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles is adding more stringent photo ID requirements for all vehicle registrations and renewals. The new policy says current photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, must be presented when a new vehicle registration or renewal is made, or when a vehicle is bought from a licensed vehicle dealer. The policy change could keep illegal immigrants in Texas from legally owning vehicles. Republican state Representative Brian Harrison of Midlothian says that’s the idea.
