A New Mexico man has been arrested in Tom Green County after fleeing from law enforcement during a chase on Friday, January 3. Police says speeds reached in “excess of 100 MPH.” The Sterling County Sheriff’s Office received a call at approximately 11:49 a.m. on Jan. 3 regarding a reckless driver traveling toward Sterling City on State Highway 158 W. After being pulled over, the motorist refused to exit the vehicle when asked and drove away, fleeing the scene. The pursuit entered Tom Green County “on US87 at speeds in excess of 100 MPH.”
34-year-old Jose Guajardo of Roswell, New Mexico, was then taken into custody and booked into the Tom Green County Detention Center for evading arrest and detention as well as driving while intoxicated. Guajardo remains in the Tom Green County Detention Center pending bond and final disposition of the out-of-county warrants, according to TGSO.
