Angelo State Names 2024 ASU Veteran Of The Year

In commemoration of Veterans Day, Angelo State University has named Dr. William Buche, a retired San Angelo oral surgeon and veteran of both the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army, the 2024 ASU Veteran of the Year. A San Antonio native, Buche served 29 years as a military dental officer, achieving the rank of colonel in both the Air Force and the Army. Dr. Buche retired from the Army in 1998. Following his military retirement, Buche owned and operated an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice in San Angelo for over 20 years until recently retiring again. During that time, he hired many Angelo State students, primarily from the Nursing Department. He and his wife, Randi, have also established four scholarship endowments at ASU, benefiting students in the nursing, biology, English and global security studies degree programs.
