A man has died after being involved in an incident with a golf cart driven by a drunk woman, according to the San Angelo Police Department. The SAPD stated that officers were called to the 5500 block of Enclave Court at 6:16 p.m. on June 29 in reference to an unconscious person. At the scene, responding officers found that a golf cart operated by 28-year-old Emilee Krieger caused a “serious accident” that resulted in injuries to the vehicle’s passenger, 41-year-old Dustin Patino. Preliminary investigations have indicated that Krieger operated the golf cart under the influence of alcohol. Krieger later consented to a breathalyzer test, which confirmed that she had a blood alcohol concentration that was above the legal limit. According to jail records, Krieger was booked into the Tom Green County Detention Center on June 29 on one charge of intoxicated assault. She was released the following day. Members of the San Angelo Fire Department transported Patino to Shannon Medical Center following the incident. Despite treatment efforts, Patino succumbed to his injuries on July 2. The SAPD has instated a “no refusal period” lasting from July 3 to July 8 for increased enforcement regarding DWIs during the Fourth of July weekend.
