A San Angelo man charged with two counts of indecency with a child through sexual contact accepted a plea deal in exchange for 8 years of confinement. 46-year-old Mario Salazar took the plea deal. An affidavit filed in Tom Green County states that, on Nov. 7, 2023, an investigator read a report made by a San Angelo Police Department officer and learned that a 14-year-old child alleged that Salazar had embraced them from behind while they were asleep in bed. The child then stated that they felt uncomfortable and left the room. The victim later told an investigator that Salazar got into bed with them on or about June 22, 2023. The child stated that Salazar held them tightly for several minutes before putting his hand on their breasts. The investigator later spoke with Salazar, who waived his rights and stated that he got into bed with the victim and hugged their “upper body three or four times” on or about July 16, 2023. Salazar also admitted to kissing the child’s hair and cheek, holding the side of their chest and touching the side of their breasts over the bed’s covers during the incident.
