Thousands of cows have died in the wildfires that ripped across the Texas Panhandle, devastating the largest cattle region in the nation. Experts say this will affect the price of meat at the grocery store. The Panhandle is the country’s most prominent region for beef production. Rick Avery, who heads the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, says it’s safe to say that beef prices will be going up.but cautions it’s hard to tell how much of an impact the fire will have on beef prices. Reports of cattle deaths are still coming in.
