San Angelo Police posted a notice earlier today saying to avoid a
west central neighborhood because of a gas leak. The area involved was
North Van Buren and Greenwood Streets. Reports say a work
crew was installing a fiber optic cable and apparently ruptured a natural
gas line under the ground. Law enforcement, fire department, and
Atmos Energy officials were called to the scene. The advisory
was issued as repair crews were working to stop the leak.
